Both of my hands were tattooed by Yann Black. The compass on my left hand I had done for my birthday two years ago in Brussels. The idea came to me when I met Herbert Hoffman, a legendary tattooist from Hambourg, who actually had the tattoo on his own hand. A bit of a tribute I suppose, but also a reference to all of my travelling. The boat that I have tattooed on my right hand is a design that I share with Guillaume, a close friend, and something Yann did for both of us. I really admire Yann’s work: you could say that he has revolutionised the world of tattoos. He has changed the established rules, but above all dared to put his own drawings, his personal world out there for all to share, for people to wear on their skin. This is what really gives me motivation, in art as well as life.
